Hosseini: Bush Iran approach has no impact

TEHRAN, June 13 (UPI) -- An Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman says U.S. President George W. Bush's opposition will have no effect on Iran's nuclear program.

Mohammad Ali Hosseini said Bush is making up untrue accusations to try to compensate for his mistakes as the end of his term in office nears, the Information and Press Bureau of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.

Ayatollah Seyyed Ahmad Khatami, of Iran's Assembly of Experts, said Iran has no need for nuclear arms and officials are prepared to react if opponents invade the country, Press TV reported Friday.

"Today, the army, the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps and Basij forces are in the best possible condition, fully prepared to defend the country's territory," he said Thursday.
